The Workshop on Language Documentation 2022 was an incredible opportunity for students to learn about the methods and tools used in field research for documenting linguistic varieties and dialects. With David A. Peterson, a distinguished Professor of Linguistics, as the lead advisor and Dr. Md. Mostafa Rashel, Associate Professor of the English Department, as the lead trainer and organizer, participants were in great hands.
Over the course of 9 days, the program delved into the theory and practice of language documentation, description, and revitalization, with real-world case studies from around the world. There was also a hands-on training session where participants worked with the main tools and software used for the analysis and storage of linguistic data, and had the chance to collect data from native speakers.
The workshop not only supported students in their academic achievements but also covered 13 marks in their current linguistics subjects. As a result, certificates were issued to the successful participants. |
