Department of General Educational Development (GED) of Daffodil International University (DIU) organized ‘DIU Inter-departmental Math Olympiad-2019’ on 25 June 2019 at 71 Milonayoton of the university. Mr. Munir Hasan, General Secretary, Bangladesh Math Olympiad Committee distributed prizes among 25 winners in the prize giving ceremony as the chief guest. Tanima Hossain, a student of CSE department became champion in the competition while Sharnali Paul Chaity and Md. Sazzad Hossain, both are the student of CSE became 1st runner up and 2nd runner up respectively.

MikroTik Academy expanding RouterOS learning possibilities has been launched for the first time in Bangladesh at Daffodil International University (DIU). The launching ceremony was held today on 7th July 2019 at conference room of the university. Mr. Syed Abu Saleh, Coordinator of MikroTik Academy, Bangladesh and Managing Director of Sastech Ltd. was present at the opening ceremony as the chief guest while Mr. SabbirAhamed, General Manager of Daffodil Online Ltd. and Mr. Md. Taslim Arefin, Associate Professor and Head, Department of ETE, DIU was present as the special guest and Mr. Nadir Bin Ali, Joint Director (IT) of DIU and Mr. Md. Anowar Habib Kazal, Senior Assistant Director (Public Relation) of DIU was present as the guest of honor.

Girls’ Computer & Programming Club in association with the department of Computer Science & Engineering organized a seminar titled"The Role of Programming in ICT Career"on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the DIU Permanent Campus. Ms. Farhana A. Rahman (Senior Vice President of BASIS and CEO & Chairperson of UY Systems Ltd.) was present as the keynote speaker in the seminar. She shared the role of programming along with other factors which are essential for the current job market in Bangladesh as well as in abroad. Ms. Rahman also focus on the key factors required to be an entrepreneur. Students participated in the session enthusiastically and had an interactive session with the speaker.

The students from Somalia studying in Bangladesh observed the Independence Day of Somalia on Monday at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil International University (DIU). Dr. Kasim from Somalia (Doctor in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University) was present at program as the chief guest while Professor Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain, Director of International Affairs, DIU was present as the special guest. Hosted by Daffodil International Universality, the program also addressed by Mr. Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director, Students Affaires of DIU and Mr. Maruf Choudhury, Assistant Registrar, DIU.

Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (DIE) of School of Entrepreneurship (SoE) of Daffodil International University (DIU) and Government Shahid Suhrawardi College have jointly organized a seminar on “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” on 06th July 2019 at the auditorium of Government Shahid Suhrawardi College in the capital.

A workshop on the "Use of Scopus and ScienceDirect, and Bibliographic Management System Mendeley for Research and Publications" was held on 7 July, 2019 at the Banquet Hall of Daffodil International University (DIU). Division of Research, Daffodil International University organized the workshop as understanding Elsevier e-resources and Mendeley for research and publications is very important for DIU researchers as Scopus publications and their citation have positive impact on various world university rankings.

A workshop titled “QS Masterclass on University Rankings & Ratings”was held during July 09, 2019 at 10.00 a.m. at the Council Bhaban of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). The workshopwas facilitated by Mr. Ashwin Fernandez, Regional Director – Middle East, North Africa & South Asia, QS Quacquarelli Symonds, UK.

The National Final of the Entrepreneurship World Cup (EWC) Bangladesh was held on July 14, 2019 organized by Daffodil International University at the 71 Millonaiton of the University. Tanvir Tabassum, founder of Sigmind won the first prize in the Bangladsh National final of the Entrepreneurship World Cup competition. EduBlock, Edu-tech product for learning STEM and Robotics became 1st Runner Up while HelloTask, School of Maids, Solution of Household became 2nd Runner Up in the competition. Mr. Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasurer, Daffodil International University was present as the chief guest at the prize giving ceremony and distributed prizes among the winners.

Department of Innovation & Entrepreneurship of Daffodil International University (DIU) and Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN) jointly organized ‘Entrepreneurs Award-2018’ on 28 June 2019 at 71 Milonayoton of the university. It was 5thprogram of the Facebook group ‘Chakri Khujbo Na, Chakri Debo’. Mr. Shibli Shahriar, Head, Department of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, DIU, Mr. Muminul Islam, Managing Director of IPDC, Ms. Swapna Bhoumik, Country Manager of Marks & Spencer, Mr. Sawkat Hossain, Managing Director of BD Venture, Ms. Tania Wahab, Founder and Director of Karigor, Mr. Mahmudul Islam Babu, Managing Director of Techno Haven distributed award among 19 new entrepreneurs. The program presided over by Mr. Munir Hasan, General Secretary of BdOSN. Ms. Prity Waresa, Director and Mr. Promi Nahid, Coordinator of ‘Chakri Khujbo Na, Chakri Debo’ also present at the program.

Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) of Daffodil International University organized ‘Grand Robotics Demonstration Class’ today on 18 July, 2019 at 71 Milonayoton of the university. It was a daylong class and the class conducted by Professor Dr. Syed Akhter Hossain, Head, Department of CSE. Around 69 students from 5 section of final semesters of CSE attended this class.

‘DIU Heuristic’ a student team of Daffodil International University became 1st Runner Up in ACM-International Girls Programming Contest-2019, held at North South University on 19 July, 2019. The winning team members are Tanima Hossain, Umme Rokaiya Sany and Farzana Akther, all are students of 5th semester of the department of Computer Science & Engineering of Daffodil International University. Jahangirnagar University student’s team ‘JU Night Fury’ became champion in this competition.

Grand Final of DIU Reading Competition & Inauguration of DIU Reader’s Club’ were held today on 24 July, 2019 at Banquet Hall of Daffodil International University (DIU). Ismat Jahan Nabila, student of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Department became champion while Tanzina Akther Trisha, student of Pharmacy Department became 1st runner up and Ikteder Islam, student of English Department became 2nd runner up in this competition. Country’s renowned writer OF Bangla Literature Anwara Syed Haq was present as the chief guest at the program and distributed prizes among the winners while Professor A. M.M. Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Social Science, DIU was the special guest. Presided over by Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor of DIU, the program was addressed by Professor Dr. Golam Mowla Choudhury, Controller of Examination, Dr. Milan Khan, Librarian, Md. Rakibul Hasan Khan, Associate Professor and Head, Department of English of DIU.

HEC, Montreal Canada and Daffodil International University jointly organized Regional Final of  Social Business Creation, Bangladesh chapter on July 30, 2019 at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil International University. ‘Sorbojaya’ team comprised with Mahfuz Islam ( Textile Engineering Department), Meghla Akter Mitu ( English Department)  and   Md. Ashik Iqbal (CSE Department) became Regional champion in Social Business Creation, Bangladesh chapter and moved to Canada to attend the global final.

Daffodil International University (DIU) is a member of ACD-UN. Professor Dr. Mohammed Masum Iqbal attended the said round table meeting on behalf of Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Honorable Chairman, DIU. It is to note that Daffodil International University (DIU) is a founding representative body from Bangladesh since its inception and Dr. Md. Sabur Khan is an elected member of its Executive Council and Task Force for ACD-UN

Daffodil International University signed partnership agreement with Universitas Airlangga -a leading university in Indonesia. The MOU was signed in presence of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, Honorable Rector, UNAIR and Prof Dr. S M Mahbubul Haque Mazumder, Honorable Pro Vice-Chancellor of DIU at the Rectors office of UNAIR in Surabaya, Indonesia on 2 July, 2019. Mr. Syed Raihan-Ul-Islam, Assistant Director of International Affairs of DIU and Airlangga Global Education (AGE) representatives were present in the MOU signing program. The attendees discussed a number of possible cooperation programs between DIU and UNAIR at the meeting.

Four members delegation headed by Professor Dr. S M Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University (DIU) attended at Asian Summer Program-2019 at Petra Christian University tower Surabaya, Indonesia held on 1st-2nd July 2019. The delegation Among the participating members one is Lecturer Mr. Aftab Hossain from Journalism & Mass Communication Department, one student from English Department and Mr. Syed Raihan, Assistant Director of International Affairs of DIU.

Dr. Farhana Helal Mehtab, Professor of Law & Associate Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Daffodil International University, has been nominated and elected as an Executive Council Member of the Asian Association of Law Professors (AALP) in the 1st General Assembly of AALP in Kathmandu, Nepal on July 10, 2019 for next three years.
